About This Game

Contagion VR: Outbreak is a first-person shooter built from the ground up exclusively for VR. Fully immerse yourself in a world initially familiar to you, and witness it's transformation into something much darker as it rapidly changes right before your eyes.

Assume the role of one of our many characters and experience their stories first hand that would shape them in the mold of who they would eventually become. The end of the world as we know it is filled with horrors the likes of which were never fathomed, but in all the darkness lies a beacon of light, tales of heroism and sacrifices made so others could carry on. Explore highly detailed environments, search for scarce resources and see if you've got what it takes to survive a zombie apocalypse!

We've painstakingly developed every element from the ground up for HTC Vive, Oculus and Windows MR, Contagion VR: Outbreak drops you in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. Fight alone in our single player story driven mode and experience each characters past!

This game is TRASH!. Sticky controls. A lot of slippage (like gun won't take clip smoothly). A lot of times the hand gets "merged" with the gun and you're stuck looking at it until you re-holster the gun. It's got a LOT of glitches that need to be fixed before i call it even a "decent" game.. This game is TRASH!. Great game. I just wish there were more campaign levels like the non-VR game.. The biggest update for This War of Mine is live, adding scenario editor and more!:


This is it! The biggest update so far, which has been in development for the last few months, is now available on Steam. We proudly present Update 1.3 that will give you plenty of new stories to tell. Let's take a look at what we’ve prepared.

- Scenario Editor in which you can write your own stories of civilians in war. Pick up members of the group, length of the conflict, weather conditions and more – it’s all up to you!
- Character Editor where you can shape civilians, their look, skills, biographies and then play with them in the game. You can even add your photo and be a part of the story.
- two new locations: Old Town and Looted Gas Station. Of course they can be included in your scenario!
- two new music tracks, designed for the night missions!

Greetings and salutations! Progress on Vacancy is moving right along, with some new and exciting additions coming into play which Alex will likely talk about in his update regarding a new pump action shotgun. The riot boss zombie is in, and packs a wallop if you aren’t careful to stay out of his way! Having completed an initial balance pass and gameplay review of his current state, we are well on our way to finish him off and get him released along with mission 2 very very soon!

Better late than never! The pump shotguns are confirmed in for the mission 2 update, working even better than they did in the demo. There's still some polish left to do, but overall they're feeling very fun to use. In the process of getting the pump action off the ground, I also fixed some long standing weirdness with the way the automatic shotgun was behaving; you no longer have to have the bolt fully retracted to add ammo, and the bolt itself is now properly springy, behaving much more closer to its real life counterpart. There are still some lingering bugs with the ammo system with-regard-to grabbing ammo from the belt (not due to the new weapon features, it’s just extra visible now that we're using it this way) but the shotguns are otherwise in pretty great shape.

I also tracked down and fixed a bug related to a new keypad door locking mechanic (it was expecting the wrong password due to a race condition) that had been giving us some issue for the past few weeks.

Also, I recorded this while getting the shotgun footage. Can't confirm or deny that boxing zombies is in the game, but you can punch targets in my test map...

This week I have been working on the dialog audio for the new mission, optimising audio thread usage by taking advantage of some of the new features of WWISE, as well as working with Lawrence to get to the bottom of the audio crashes that were pushing back release of the new content.

This week we have been getting the vacancy l2 level ready for testers, hooking up dialogues and getting scripting locked down for the encounters in the mission. It's going to be action-packed for sure, hopefully it won’t be too punishing for the test team ;)
Also we got to the bottom of the audio crashes that were hampering development with the creation of a far easier to use and more robust dialog scripting tool.

We are pleased to announce that This War of Mine: Stories - Father’s Promise is now available on both iOS and Android as a premium stand-alone game.. Minor Update: Mission 3 + PSVR News:
Hello survivors!

It has been some time since the last update. Though with it, we have some news. First off, we apologize for the two week radio silence. The team had to focus on Mission 3 while Lawrence finally was able to get a first PSVR iteration to work! Great news! Keep in mind, bug fixing and optimizing is continuous. We will try to include several fixes and new features with each update.

Next update expect to be able to melee zombies with rifles and shotguns. ;)

Mission 3:

Without giving too much away, this will be a slower and eerie mission compared to the first missions. Paul has finished with some of the main aspects of the missions features. Brian and Alex have begun polish passes on art and sound. We expect the mission to be sent out to begin play testing by the end of this month. With an internal goal of Launching in early April!

PSVR:

The PSVR port of the game is now fully playable with PSVR headset and Move Controllers. It just requires optimisation and fixes to bring this title to a state where it can be enjoyed by all our very patient fans on the playstation ecosystem. We are all busting ass here to get this submitted as soon as possible without sacrificing quality for sure!

Within the next few weeks we will be finishing the final steps to releasing the Mission 3 and PSVR. If all goes well we may well be supporting another, up and coming controller as it seems like such an essential peripheral for the PSVR experience.

Post PSVR:

Original Contagion bug fixes.

Now we don’t want to leave you all in the dark, but we are looking into hiring a source coder to fix game breaking issues and restore steam workshop or a decent alternative for the Original Contagion. Mike will then attempt to put in more mod maps into the official escape servers make sure you subscribe to them! In the future we might make an Official Community made map server per region that way we don’t force any new players to play Community content on all Escape/Hunted Servers.

Mission 4:

Vertigo has been put on the shelf, so to speak. In its place, Jason has already started the level design and initial script concept for this new map. Currently, the map code name is Patient Zero. Expect more updates for Patient Zero in the future. Main work will start pending PSVR release.

Good things are coming folks! Just a matter of time.

  • Resolved Multiplayer movement being disabled
  • Increased backpack collision to make it easier to grab

We'll be updating and adding new content in the game over the weekend and beyond. We will be listening and learning from your valuable feedback through the first campaign mission: Outbreak, as well as through the multiplayer PvP mode: Hunted.

With this feedback we hope to be able to appease as many players as possible while still keeping it close to the original vision of the game.
