About This Game

A helicopter crash left a group of explorers stranded near an Arctic research station. The survivors will have to resist the nightmares of dead frost and hunger. As they try to escape the dangers of the long dark polar night and find the way to the shelter of the abandoned station, all they are doing is sinking deeper into a nightmare scenario.

When they fall asleep, they attract a terrifying force that sucks the life out of their bodies, but the longer they battle exhaustion and stay awake, the less likely they are to survive. Guide the explorers through a randomly generated station, overcome the severe climate and fight the unfathomable!

MYSTERIOUS ANOMALIES WAITING IN THE WINGS

They come out of nowhere and disappear instantly. They may be faster than light or may crawl slowly till they get near enough to strike. What are they? What do they want?

THE ENDLESS NIGHT AND EXTREME CLIMATE

Explore and research the abandoned station, gather and craft the tools and open the supply boxes so you don’t starve from hunger and cold.

PLAY WITH A FRIEND IN A CO-OP MODE

As you struggle for survival and face the challenges that the environment throws at you, a helping hand may be your last hope. Play Distrust together in a COOP mode!

PROCEDURAL GENERATION

No matter if you stick to a singleplayer or play with a friend in a co-op mode, a randomly generated base turns every new playthrough into a unique adventure.

15 SURVIVORS TO CHOOSE FROM

Every character has unique skills and abilities to fit any survival strategy of yours.

AN ABSORBING NARRATION WITH TONS OF PLOT TWISTS AND QUESTS TO COMPLETE

What is that force that inhabits the station? Is that an alien from the outer space or a mythical ancient creature from the from the depths of the centuries? Or is that a result of a failed scientific experiment? Survive to learn the answer!

ALTERED PERCEPTION OF REALITY

As the explorers try to sleep just enough to stay alive, they slowly go mad and eventually reach the point where they can no longer trust their senses and tell the difference between reality and a hallucination.

distrust a long dark polar survival. distrust a long dark polar survival gameplay. distrust a long dark polar survival прохождение

When you cannot even be bothered to do something as simple as spell checking your own game that's where I stop.... I got this game on discount. I loved the idea, the style, and the survival theme. However, the constant crashes I had to endure to even get pass the first zone is unbelievable.

Not sure if this only happens on Mac, BUT, the game frequently crashed and reset the game progress to the last save. And the game only auto-saved after each zone. You COULD "save and quit" and re-enter the game every 5 minutes but who wants to do that? Oh, and when you died, you start over (from the beginning).

I suspected that the game crashed when it needed to send data over the Internet and fails. I don't always have a wifi connection. So i tried to play in Offline Mode, but worse things happened. It would crash on the menu screen, mess up the graphics, even crashed my Mac a few times. I tried in Offline Mode about 7-8 times but all resulted in game crash or system crash.

Finally I got a stable wifi connection and got up to zone 3. I was starting to enjoy the game until (surprise) the game crashed again. Such a good game, too bad I don't get to play it.. Not about The Thing, but still interesting to play.. I got this game on discount. I loved the idea, the style, and the survival theme. It's a small game, you just need about 4-5 hours to complete it, let's say 15 for all endings. It's simple and you get how it works very quickly

NO NO SIDE
- Too short
- Not "many endings". It actually only has 3, and one of the 3 can only be unlocked with a character that you can only find randomly, so let's just say 2 endings.
- Absolutely NO narrative. This is NOT story rich. Feels mechanical, and nothing would change if characters were replaced by floating toasters.
- Since the game is too short, they filled it with unlockable characters that are completely useless and need several runs to be unlocked.
- Not at all inspired by "The Thing" as advertised
- Why "Distrust"? Trust is never mentioned or used.

PLUS SIDE
+ Fairly nice
+ Interesting concept
+ Fluid mechanic (albeit too easy when you understand the priorities)

Conclusion : don't spend more than 2€ on this one, and only if you're a completionist

Final Words from the Game: "You can't go there, as it's unreachable". When you cannot even be bothered to do something as simple as spell checking your own game that's where I stop.... Not about The Thing, but still interesting to play.. Clunky interface and repetitive gameplay. Potential, but unbearably slow. Give me a mod that cuts down action times by 80% and I'll play more.

Wanna open a door? It's gonna take 20-30 seconds.

Wanna cook some food? 20 seconds of standing still doing nothing.

Eat that food? 10 seconds.

Repair a thing? 30 more seconds.

Stoke a fire? 20 seconds.

Loot something? 10 seconds.

Take a nap to recover from madness? 100 seconds.

Maybe it's more tolerable when you're controlling all of the characters separately, but that's honestly kind of a pain in the♥♥♥♥♥ Co-op is fun for a little while because you can just focus on what you're doing, but then the constant waiting gets to be really annoying.
